Stephen Stone graduated with honours in Mining Geology from University of Wales, Cardiff and has since gained 30 years operating, management and corporate experience in the international mining and exploration industry.
He has spent several years working in Africa including at the diamond mines of De Beers and six years at the large open pit and underground copper mines of the Zambian Copperbelt.
Stephen came to Australia in 1986 and since then has involved himself in the corporate sector forming and heading up several listed junior explorers. Stephen joined Azumah as its Non-Executive Chairman in November 2006 and was appointed its Managing Director in December 2007.
He is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of the Editorial Board of International Mining Magazine and a non-executive director of Avalon Minerals NL.
